High School Seminar (9th Period)
· 30 minutes will be added on the normal day- 3:50 dismissal EFFECTIVE FEB 22 until the end of the school year.
· Teachers’ schedules will be 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM
· Students will have a 5 minute passing period between 8th and 9th periods. During this time students need to use the restroom, get drinks, and obtain study material from their lockers. At the end of the 5 minute passing period students must report back to their 8th period class unless they have previously obtained a pass to see another teacher during the 9th period at which time they would report to the teacher that gave them the 9th period pass.
· Special education teachers will meet with their students during this time unless those students have previously arranged to meet with another teacher.
· Students in weights or PE 8th period will have seminar during the 9th period. Hoffmann’s classes will meet in the Health room and Hoekstra’s classes will meet in the gym. Make-up classes may be scheduled through the PE teachers during the 9th period.
· Students will be required to bring study materials or appropriate reading materials to seminar. Failure to do so will result in a 30 minute detention. (Effective Wednesday)
· MOC students scheduled to work will remain at their job.
· DMACC students that have PM classes will continue to do the same thing they have been doing.
· Students with PM privileges will be required to attend 8th period study hall in the commons and allowed to take their privileges during the 9th period seminar.
· Students have been informed of these changes almost two weeks in advance so they may talk to work supervisors in advance and have work schedules changed accordingly. If after talking to a work supervisor a situation arises that effects the student’s employability, the student will need to see Mr. Anthony or Mr. Calhoun to further discuss the situation.
· The 9th period schedule will go into effect on Monday, February 22 and continue through the remainder of the school year. These extended days coupled with going to school on March 12 will recoup the 7 days of school we have missed due to inclement weather.
· With the implementation of this plan the last scheduled day of school for 9-11 graders will be June 2nd. Any additional days missed from this point forward will be added on to the end of the year.
· This plan will allow us to dismiss seniors as originally planned on May 25th without having to extend their number of school days before graduation.
· Early out times will be extended by 30 minutes as well. The 9th period will remain at the end of the day on early out days.
· Building Trades students will stay in Trades during Seminar.
· IF STUDENTS PASS TO ANOTHER TEACHER DURING SEMINAR THEY ARE REQUIRED TO STAY WITH THAT TEACHER ALL PERIOD.
· This can be a great use of time for all students and faculty if we choose to use it wisely.
