Speech Contest Reminders:
DISTRICT CONTEST is Saturday, February 27 at Clarke High School in Osceola!!!
If there are weather concerns, cancellations and/or delays will be posted on WHO (Channel 13) or WHO-AM radio!!!
Bus leaves Carlisle High School at 7:45 A.M. on the dot!! We should return around 4:30 P.M. You must have a signed note from a parent if you are not riding the bus home.
Remember your scripts and remember to dress up!! (No jeans!)
Make sure you have your ballot/comment sheet. You will give this to the room chairperson while waiting for your turn!!
The room chairperson will introduce you, and then you must wait for the judge to be ready before you begin!! (S/he will smile or nod or make eye contact—they will NOT say, “Begin.”)
Remember you are being judged while you are setting up, so set up quickly and quietly!!
If the timer calls stop, STOP IMMEDIATELY. Not doing so will result in a disqualification. You will not be punished if you stop immediately!
This is districts which means after performing you will speak with the judge to hear comments!! After speaking with the judge, remember to thank him/her and leave as quickly and quietly as you can!!
Wear NOTHING with the Carlisle’s name or mascot on it! You will be disqualified for this!
Check the schedule for your room often because at districts many people drop!! Plan on going up to an hour ahead of your schedule!!!
Bring money to eat, food to share, and something to do (homework, magazines, etc. NO music unless it’s an iPod—this is a rule at contest!!). I expect everyone to watch ALL Carlisle performers. We are a team and MUST SUPPORT each other!!
Invite your parents!! There will be a suggested donation of $3 at the door for parents who come to watch. (And remember, no videotaping at contest!! Cameras are not allowed!)
Bus leaves Carlisle High School at 7:45 A.M. on the dot!! Help unload the bus when we get there and find a spot all together in the gym!! Please help load the bus at the end of the day!
You can expect to return to Carlisle around 4:30 P.M.!! Remember to have a signed note if you are not riding the bus home!

**The first thing you should do when we arrive is find your performance room!!
Remember, Districts usually runs EARLY (sometimes as much as an HOUR) due to drops!!! Check the schedule consistently and be ready to perform early!!!
