WILDCATS SHOW PRIDE ONE FINAL TIME
The Wildcats got a very tough first round draw in post season play by facing the Norwalk Warriors. The Warriors had been top ten all year and had been number one in the state for a six week span. They had a very impressive 20-1 regular season record and were the defending state runner ups from the previous year.
Carlisle came out and had a very good first quarter and were playing right with the Norwalk. The score at the end of the first quarter was Norwalk 24 and Carlisle 18. The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game as Norwalk outscored the Cats 21-8. The score at halftime was Norwalk 45 and Carlisle 26.
In the second half the Wildcats displayed what they had shown all year and that was a great deal of PRIDE. They never gave up even though the game really never got any closer than a difference of 20 points. The final was Norwalk 77 and Carlisle 53. This game concluded the season for the Wildcats as they finished with a 5-18 record.
Leaders from the game were Derek Dunn who was a one man scoring machine even on a foot that was about 75% healed. The Warriors had no answer for him. Derek was simply incredible and it was a truly inspiring effort by him to end his career for the Wildcats. Derek finished with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Brock Adams ended his career with a very nice performance scoring 9 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Brock did a nice job guarding bigger players the whole game while holding his own. Max Grandgenett ended his career with 5 points and 5 rebounds. It was great to see Chase Farrell in his final game come off the bench after battling a very bad knee injury the last month of the season and score five points and hit a sweet thee pointer in the second half. Matt Stickley was his usual tough big hearted self coming off the bench scoring 5 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. Matt was also on the floor showing Wildcat Pride by leading the team in floor burns with three. Eric Yates ended his senior season also after coming back from a bad ankle sprain and giving everything he had in the minutes he played. Eric does everything a coach asks and more and had a great season.
