Slugfest ends in heartbreak

               The Carlisle Freshmen boys dropped a 21-20 baseball heartbreaker to Winterset. Carlisle took a 20-14 lead into the bottom of the last inning only to see Winterset strike for 7 runs on a walk off double. Joey Ermler, Nathan Stickley, and Chance Becker pitched with Becker taking the loss. Ermler game up 9 runs, 8 earned, 6 hits, walked 2 and struck out 2 in 2 innings of work. Stickley surrendered 5 runs (all earned) on 6 hits with 1 strikeout and 3 walks in two innings pitched. Becker gave up 7 runs, six of which were earned after throwing one inning. Becker walked two and gave up 6 hits in the loss.
                Carlisle pounded out 16 hits while Winterset had 18 hits in the slugfest. The Cats were led offensively by several different players. Leadoff hitter Dallas Loney went 3-4 with two runs scored. Ermler finished 2-4 with four runs scored and three runs batted in. Clean-up hitter Daniel Hupke finished 3-4 with an incredible six runs batted in. David Reid and Daniel Gramowski each had two hits and three runs batted in.
